Indianola School District Food Pantries

Indianola School District in partnership with the Food Bank of Iowa is operating a food pantry at Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary to help alleviate hunger in Warren County.  Students need good nutrition to grow, develop and learn properly. Adolescents and teens need extra food to power their rapid growth. Our School Pantry Program provides a convenient supply of food in a location that’s comfortable and convenient for kids in need and their families. Students are served snacks at school as needed and the pantry is open one time per month or by appointment.

The Food Bank of Iowa will provide the food and the school will host the pantry. Food items available include frozen selections, dry food items, canned food, and various snack type options for families. School administration and select teachers are supporting the effort by volunteering to have the pantry open and accessible to families on the following days:

Backpacks 4 Hunger

All middle school students are eligible to participate in this food program. Local organizations donate both their time and money to fill sacks with food items, and school counselors place these sacks in students’ lockers on Fridays. Call a school counselor to participate.
