FREE INDIANOLA SWIM CLUB CLINIC - April 17-19, 6-6:45pm, @ Simpson pool.  Indianola Swim Club is offering "Racing Starts",  a free trial period to those interested in joining Indianola Swim Club. Prospective members will be evaluated by the ISC coaching staff to determine the appropriate participation level of the swimmer. This is a great, healthy competitive sport to participate in. ISC is practicing now, summer session begins Monday, May 21. It is my pleasure to welcome you and your family to Whittier Elementary School. You will find it to be an excellent school with sincere personnel, fantastic parents and great kids.

Our educational program provides high quality learning opportunities for the students. They receive instruction in reading, language arts, math, science and social studies. The students also participate in a full curriculum of related arts. Physical education, music, art and guidance classes are all programs provided on a regular basis. Students in fifth grade may elect to participate in band, chorus and orchestra. Students also have access to various other services such as speech, special education, enrichment, reading support and health services.

We encourage parents to be involved with their children’s education. We have a highly active and supportive PTO. The PTO provides activities for students, staff and families. The organization also assists teachers with volunteers and homeroom parents as well as provides financial assistance through their fundraising programs.

Whittier enjoys a rich tradition of volunteers. Parents, community members; as well as students from Indianola High School and Simpson College allow unique opportunities to enhance programming at Whittier.

It is our desire to provide each Whittier student with a learning environment that is warm, caring and educationally stimulating. We hope that students and parents alike will find Whittier Elementary to be a school of which they can be proud and supportive.
