Come meet the students and adults of Calvin Coolidge High School! The Indianola High School Theatre Department is proud to present Up the Down Staircase in the IHS auditorium November 4th-6th at 7:00 p.m.
First-year teacher Sylvia Barrett is ready to change the world one student at a time. However, factors are not in her favor. Calvin Coolidge High School is an underfunded, inner-city school where students face some harsh realities, but survive through beautiful dreams and support. Students like Joe Ferone – very bright, but flunking every subject – and Alice Blake – a kind girl lost in a dream world – fill Ms. Barrett’s time and attention, but the sometimes ridiculous demands of the district cause her to question her vocation.
Will Ms. Barrett survive her first year, or will she flee to the safety of the elite but bland Willowdale Academy? Come find out Thursday, November 4th; Friday, November 5th; &/or Saturday, November 6th at 7:00 p.m. in the newly renovated Indianola High School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door only – $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults.
