This last quarter the onus for learning shifts from me to the students. I, of course, still teach each section of each chapter or each component of a unit I expect students to know, but I now expect more self-guided reading, note-taking and studying. One of my goals all year has been to provide extensive modeling of various techniques related to these skills so each student can have confidence in doing these things for themselves and be successful life-long learners. This is a great time to have a conversation with your student about their level of confidence. Please give me a response to this blog. How do you think theis year in social studies has been for your student? Do you feel they have grown in their reading and study skills? Have they learned a lot this year? I appreciate your feedback and your conversation with your student and response to my blog will earn your student extra credit!
